ARARA 2009 in Bakersfield, California, May 22-25.

Dear Presenter,

Thank you for presenting your paper at the 2009 ARARA Conference in Bakersfield, California. In order to publish your paper, we must have it by JULY 1, 2009. Papers received after July 1, 2009 will not be considered for this volume and will be retained for the 2010 volume. The attached Style Guide will help you through the publishing process.

The Editing Team has been working to update the process of submission and publication. One of the changes from past years will be the acceptance of electronically stored content.

Manuscripts should be between 2500 words and 5000 words exclusive of acknowledgments, tables, figures, and references cited. Longer manuscripts may be accepted, but we reserve the right to edit these to meet publication restrictions. Deadline for submission is July 1, 2009. Your draft submission should include an electronic copy of your paper with Figure Captions, Tables, and References Cited in separate files submitted to the Publications Chair by e-mail or on a CD or USB flash drive. All submissions must include one (1) clean hard copy of the paper (double spaced), including an abstract and all Figures, Tables, Captions, and References Cited, plus digital files, printouts, and/or photocopies of illustrations for review by the Editor and assigned Reviewer(s). If you submit your files by e-mail, you must also mail the hard copy to the Publications Chair.

Follow the attached Style Guide in preparing your paper, with no “automatic formatting” or “styles” in your text. A simple tab at the beginning of each paragraph is all that is required. Submit all text files in a standard word processing format: .doc (Microsoft Word), .wpd (WordPerfect), or .rtf (rich text format). Original line art, graphics, and photographs may be submitted at this time for high quality scanning. Submissions may be hand delivered, e-mailed to Peggy Whitehead at whw-pjw@att.net, or mailed to:

no later than July 1, 2009. Papers received late or that are lacking in appropriate supporting evidence or preparation, may not be considered for publication. These will be returned to the author at ARARA’s convenience. Authors should retain copies of their papers.

Papers will be reviewed and returned to Authors by September 15, 2009. You will then have 1 (one) month to update. Keep in mind the paper will be reviewed for content, continuity, references and grammar. If no revision is required you will be notified of the acceptance of your paper.

After the review process is completed and authors’ corrections have been made, authors will be asked to submit their revised final manuscripts by e-mail or on CD (PC or Mac) or USB flash drive. Permissions must be sent at this time. Follow the attached Style Guide in preparing your final paper, with no “automatic formatting” or “styles” in your text. A simple tab at the beginning of each paragraph is all that is required. Submit all text files in a standard word processing format: .doc (Microsoft Word), .wpd (WordPerfect), or .rtf (rich text format).  All revisions and final original graphics must be received by October 15, 2009.

If you have further questions please contact Publications Chair Peggy Whitehead (whw-pjw@att.net) or Volume Editor Ken Hedges (kenhedges@cox.net). The Bakersfield Conference will be a success because you, the presenters, have put long hours and careful thought into your papers. We look forward to receiving your submission.

Sincerely yours,

AIRA Volume 36 Editing Team
